COVID-19 Online Learning Success Story

Massey University, University of New Zealand

HFX recently helped its client, the Master’s in Management Program at Massey University, New Zealand, adapt its Professional Practice Capstone to an online learning delivery format in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns. With hands-on delivery support from the HFX team, The Strategy Game was used to provide a hands-on, experiential learning component to her online capstone.

“This is a strength of the game – the power of it was such that it could keep the students engaged through the various stresses and strains of COVID.”

Organizational Behavior Concepts Brought to Life

University of Delaware, Alfred Lerner College of Business & Economics

This partnership created a “flipped classroom” experience for Organizational Behavior (OB) students using HFX’s flagship simulation, The Strategy Game. Self-directed teams of students used the simulation to practice, refine, and reflect upon core OB concepts and skills.

“I learned a lot about strategy and business. It was really helpful to be able to test out strategies in a simulation that replicates real life situations before actually entering the workforce!”

A Corporate Learning Environment, Transformed

Essilor Brazil, Human Resources

In partnership with HR leadership, HFX provided online, distance learning management training to 150 employees across ten offices, designed to enhance strategic, management, & decision-making skills of top and middle management.

“Without a doubt – and I have worked here for 5 years – this is the best training I have ever done. Those teams that really threw themselves into the game and took it seriously, had a really enriching experience.”

A Customized "Doing Business in" Course

The King’s College, New York City

The HFX Team partners with King’s College to create a customized “Doing Business in New York” business simulation course, providing students with a hands-on learning experience that brought course materials and theory to life using The Strategy Game.

“My students were able to practically apply many of the concepts we discussed. It is one thing to discuss the difficulty of balancing short- and long-term goals as a business. It’s another thing for students to experience that firsthand.”

Secondary School Principles of Management Workshop

St. Paul’s School, London

HFX partnered with one of the UK’s top private schools, St. Paul’s School in London, to provide a one-day, Instructor-Led business simulation workshop for local students from years 12 and 13 (16-18). Using our flagship simulation, The Strategy Game, students were challenged to navigate several rounds of decision-making while setting and adhering to a commercial strategy in a dynamic, changing environment.

“It was amazing to see the students so engaged in an event like this, coming as it did at the end of a long term, and just two days before the Christmas holidays!”
